From appearances, lung cancer seems the quickest, and most lethal. Probably because of the fact that it is a major organ and while its job is huge, the lungs are not so much, and they succumb quickly.
Lung cancer is one of the cancers that researchers have found a cure in cannabinoid oils. Marijuana.

So, marijuana cures cancer in lab rats and mice...when is our government going to let WE the People have some of that cure? When will the government stop sniffing up to the concerns of money laden businesses, and pay attention to what the people want?

In my small corner of the world, I guess I need the help of my representatives and Senators.
Maybe the President, if he can peel himself away from organizations who are pedaling half century old "proof" in the form of a non-medically trained prohibitionist named Harry J. Anslinger.
Organizations like the National Institute of Health.
and the
Center for Disease Control ( a bit odd that they are being paid to create bad information about marijuana )
and of course the
FDA (eggs are good for you wine is bad, wine is good for you eggs are bad, eggs are sometimes good for you and sometimes bad, wine is sometimes good for you and sometimes bad.)
Truly an organization a person can really get a grip on solid, static information...(not.)

WHY CHRISTMAS?

Good question, actually. Figure that two things stood in the way of it being December 25...
#1 the month didn't exist
#2 there was not a lick of snow on the ground.

Chasing a star to the East has been noted as having happened prior to the period usually attributed to the first Christmas, and it was a comet, to my recollection.
Of course, i'm old...
That in itself may cause time itself to drift faster. Lord knows, the older a person gets, the faster time slips by. (of course, I'm thinking you didn't come here to read about math or the sciences of growing older.)

So, much later in what will become the history of it, several months were put in place to represent times of the year better. They figured to need October and Halloween so that they knew when to put out Christmas Sale items in stores. November so that the excess turkeys could be done away with (they had been SUCH a plague...dangerous birds that they are) And January got a place in the calendar because, well...we NEED a place to START a year. February got tossed in because the emperor liked to hear people trying to say it while reading it, and, in some parts of the world (like Indiana and Ohio) February becomes the month of watching snow plows (hey...they had GOOD shaman seeing the future, eh?) dig through feet of snow (largest snowman ever built) to make roads passable so people could go to work to pay for their Christmas presents which were usually purchased with credit cards (dang! Those seers WERE good!)
Basically, calendars were made so that everything didn't happen all at once...

Because...well. Things get messy, otherwise.
So all that was left was a tenth month (a story for another day, to be sure) and they called it Deci-member, which someone shortened to December right after he "et tu, Brutus" situation.
It was a special time back then, though, because gifts were made, not bought. Most children made rocks for their friends and family... but you see, when they're wrapped all pretty and with a bow and a nice card, it seemed fitting.
Now, what the dickens THIS has to do with Christmas, I dunno.
But, it's a lot nicer than some political crap on the page, because for some reason, politics only mae people sound like hard asses.
And Christmas is about sitting on a pillow and reading a nice book by the fire. And, it REALLY helps if the fire is in the fireplace, and not in the middle of the livingroom having been started by a dry tree and hot lights.

But, I digress....
and that's OK, because I find that I WOULD like to be younger.

With words.
The way a debate is approached tells you as much as anything about who the debate is with.

For example, people who use the term "the leftists" is attempting to marginalize the fact that we are a social society. Socialism is the very substance of our country, and, before whit e people got a grip on the country, they agreed with the concept 100%.
Until they wanted the land the Indians were on, that is.
Then all bets were off.
We ALL of us give to better the whole.
Taxes help schools, roads, emergency personnel, parks, the poor, the elderly, those who are handicapped, and for the protection of our country.
But of course, some people think they are more exempt from taxes that go to helping those they don't want helped.
Just because it's a child laying in a pool of her own blood doesn't detract from these kind of people and their angry, selfish arguments of grandeur. Especially if the child is Latino or black.
Or even white, if they voted for President Obama.

Another term you hear a lot is second amendment rights, which are being questioned because of a child being shot by a crazy man with a gun... which is NOT what the reason the amendment was adopted.
Taxing the rich. Oh, gracious. Taxing the rich is so insanely aristocratic that it's hard to decide if the person is even serious.
First off, the additional 2% is a tax levied on amounts ABOVE a million dollars.
The first million, same tax as everyone else that high.
The 2% is nothing.
A way to reclaim the resources being drained from the country. Actually, 2% is not enough.
The resources being pulled from the Earth are being sold to be used now and fast, fast, FAST!
Even though their finite existence is more than apparent.
But, do some people ever see beyond their own selfish little worlds?
I think not.

Jeanie gave me a phrase a few years ago that I share often with anyone intelligent enough to recognize the words as being good, solid, stable words on which we can hang a hat on.

We have not inherited this

We are borrowing it from

future generations.

Well, their claim of standing for the "fore fathers" of this country is about as misleading as it gets. They have no idea what the "fore fathers" stood for, because evidently, MOST of the Tea Party haven't even read the Declaration of Independence.
Which would make it hard to believe that they stand for the concepts of a bygone era.
Their biggest gripe? Two things.
A Black man in the White House.
And
Abolishing the tax code.
Because they feel the rich have paid enough.
There's suffering now in the mansions.
They can't always afford to fly to Spain for the bullfights on Wednesdays.

Now, just because they are tired of paying taxes...why would I presume to imagine that they had never read the Declaration of Independence?

Alzheimer disease, however, settles in slow motion, sometimes... and when he left office, Reagan was already showing examples of the disease. And I find that just a bit humorous. There were lucid moments, sure, but they were getting fewer and further away from each other.

Alzheimer is NOT a pretty thing to watch happen.

So, you ask, where is the humor?

Because one of the advantages in the new medicines from THC (and better marijuana strains) is that it can improve memory of Alzheimer patients, and give them "more lucid time" with their loved ones. It's as if Reagan went out of his way to shoot himself in the foot with the "just say no" rally call and that strikes me as a bit humorous.
Instead of even thinking to give it the benefit of the doubt, he blatantly becomes a talking head.
Well...
Until he forgets who he is.

Those marching on the "Wall Streets" of America aren't all President Obama fans,
and they know it wasn't that one man that caused our demise.
It wasn't even just Bush junior,
(even though his hand in it is brown clean up to his elbows)
President Clinton also had some doing with it in an indirect way
...buying from the industrial/military complex.
President Bush sr. tried his best in averting the skirmishes due to his predecessor, Reagan,
(the first Gulf War has the infamous distinction of being the most disastrous man-made ecological disaster in all of history*)
But even Reagan...the guy that sold arms to Iraq, (and secretly to Iran), rebels and insurgencies in South and Central America, the guy that armed, trained, and supplied bin laden, even he isn't the main cause of our economic woes right now. Oh, to be sure, the stirring up he did is what got us marked as a brutal, dictatorial "peacemaker"....in the same way Idi Amin was a "peacemaker"...put us squarely on the path to default bankruptcy by staying the high taxes that were costing the top 1% of the population.
President Carter, perhaps? No, again. Here is a displaced preacher/farmer whose sole mission was to improve the lives of those being left out of the American Dream. Even after leaving office, continuing his mission steadfastly, Habitats for Humanity, and all forms of feeding the starving here and abroad.
President Ford? He wasn't in for very long, but, that in itself is a shame. Here was a man that could have made a difference, created some positive force, squashed the repeal of Congress/Senate mischief with the Supreme Courts and big businesses.
Ex-president Nixon?
Well...in a strange sort of way, he is really deeper than most in this mess. But as President, his biggest intention was promoting himself (after his resignation, the reason he is properly referred to as "Ex"-President, he began speaking tours, fetching as much as $2 million per speech.)
However, under President Eisenhower, Nixon and Joseph McCarthy were busy rounding up anyone who would not vote Republican, and calling them out to be communists...as if that meant anything at all.
As well as blackballing Americans for affiliations and political thoughts. He also got the ball rolling on Viet Nam with his "Domino Theory" by sending CIA trainers along with weapons to help fill in for the French who had given up on the cause. Gave Harry Anslinger a leg up at coercing the world into making marijuana illegal, which gave Nixon much in the way of support from DuPont, Hearst News Corp., and many others.

BUT, are any one of these men guilty of our economic demise?
No.
ALL of them are guilty of pandering to the cause of our economic demise...
Including the entire Senate...
Including the entire House of Representatives (who no longer represent us, I might add)...
Including the Supreme Court...

So, can we blame anyone besides ourselves?

The madness occurring around the country, now,
and probably for quite some time further,
is a wine pressed from greed.
And it is a bitter wine at that.
Greed of businesses and speculators,
Greed of men and women "playing" in the Stock Market,
Greed of Senators whose campaign coffers are filled with the filthy lucre of the top 1%
(their own law, created by the Senate and House, call for a politician to be able to take whatever remains in the coffers with him as he leaves office)
Greed of Representatives who no longer represent us, but rather represent those who have the most money to give to their campaign coffers,
Greed of Presidents and administrations with direct links to the corporations making money from the government's actions,
Greed of even the Supreme Court justices who stand only to return favors to the Senate and House.

Meanwhile, mad men armed with pepper spray, tazers, batons and guns have descended on a group of peaceful demonstrators, and probably just escalated the incident into world news journals around the world.

What this tells us is that the US government is more concerned with curing cancer in mice and lab rats than it’s concerned with curing cancer in human beings.
Now, that’s just plain sad, if you ask me. In this day and age of legal lethal items available to the public, that a harmless plant and its properties are illegal even though it is probably the LEAST lethal thing available.

Dear President Obama;
Isn't it funny how the country grows?
At one time Blacks were property and the LAW stated that they could be bought and sold and owned by white property owners.
Then a few good people realized that, "hey...they're human," and discarded an unjust and wholly evil law.

Then gays were a target.
Thing is, I kept hearing gay people saying that was how they were ...it was natural. They were born that way.
But, I kept thinking "... don't they have the freedom to choose?" I mean if the government was going to tell me who to and not to marry, they would have not let me marry my first wife. Spent all her free time fooling around.
So you’re trying to help gays reclaim a small dignity, and congratulations.

Now, as for marijuana laws. You are speaking (in your letter to me) about an illegally established law by states, congress, senate, all without a medical mandate, public vote, or (for that matter) any reason other than a way to keep Blacks, Mexicans, and long haired Democrats out of the way.

Fact is, half a million people die early because of tobacco. That might have something to do with them smoking an ounce and a half of it every day.
NOBODY has bought an early kick-the-bucket ticket for marijuana because they only smoke maybe a gram a day. The "hard" users smoke as much as five grams a day...

I didn't elect a mimic or a mime, sir.
I elected someone to help restore the freedoms lost to several junior dictatorships in this country for the last half century or so.
With marijuana, it has been a century come 2014, a date I hear YOU use on occasion.

So, if you would be so kind as to get things moving in the right direction?

You want Green?
Hemp makes great, lightweight and durable car bodies.

You want Taxable income?
Hundreds of thousands of jobs in manufacturing, farming, and the entertainment field.

You want a lower budget?
You presently spend around $18 Billion on police action, $20 Billion (approx) on courts and prison space for pot smokers,
And another $2 Billion on after court costs.

You want health care reform?
Marijuana studies right now are leaning towards it being a cure for cancer.
That DOESN’T cost $98000 a year like the pharmacies sell, so you won't be real popular with them.

You want to promote Freedom, Justice, and the American way of life?
Legalize marijuana.

FDIC Ready To Sue Executives From Failed Banks

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation is poised to sue over 50 executives from failed banks, Bloomberg News reports.
The potential lawsuits would help the FDIC recover more than $1 billion it lost during the credit crisis, which has forced the FDIC to take over 294 lenders since 2008. So far the FDIC, which, according to Bloomberg, doesn't sue unless it believes the defendant is able to pay up, has only filed one lawsuit related to the credit crisis, against IndyMac executives in July.

It's no secret that I'm a registered Republican, and that during no election I was able to vote at did I pick a Republican President.
That's my perspective. None of those clowns have been worth voting for.
Maybe President Ford, but, I was fresh out of the service and Indiana has some archaic rules about who can vote...I didn't meet the qualification.
I would have voted for President Eisenhower, but, I might have been shot as a commie by VP Nixon.

The man threw his money lenders out the door of the White House when they came by looking for favors.

But, the point I'm getting at is this...one of the best Presidents we have seen in our lifetime was Jimmy Carter.
The man did us proud.
Upon leaving office, he found that the Trust company he had put his business under had pilfered and broke his farm almost beyond repair.
Did he complain?
No...
But he DID get his carpenter tools and start working on Habitats for the Homeless.
Just think about that for a moment.
All those other clowns before him, ex-president Nixon, Reagan, President Johnson, They went out and got cushy sit on their lazy butt jobs self serving from whoever would pay the price,and here was a man who continued serving the country as best he could...yup. That Jimmy Carter is my hero.

Two hundred twenty years ago today, the Jews of Newport, R.I., wrote a proclamation for President George Washington on his visit to their synagogue the next day.

"Deprived as we heretofore have been of the invaluable rights of free Citizens," the Jews wrote to their famous visitor, we now "behold a Government, erected by the Majesty of the People . . . generously affording to All liberty of conscience, and immunities of Citizenship: deeming every one, of whatever Nation, tongue, or language, equal parts of the great governmental Machine."

Washington's reply the next day, a simple letter titled "To the Hebrew Congregation in Newport," set a standard for religious tolerance that guided the nation through two centuries. Here is that message in its entirety -- along with some alternative thoughts on the topic occasioned by the proposed mosque near Ground Zero:

The Exxon Valdez oil spill occurred in Prince William Sound, Alaska, on March 24, 1989, when the Exxon Valdez, an oil tanker bound for Long Beach, California, hit Prince William Sound's Bligh Reef and spilled an estimated minimum 30.8 million US gallons (120.9 million liters, or 750,000 barrels) of crude oil. It is considered to be one of the most devastating human-caused environmental disasters ever to occur in history...
In 1992, Exxon released a video titled Scientists and the Alaska Oil Spill. It was provided to schools with the label "A Video for Students".^[17]

Wildlife was severely affected by the oil spill.

Both the long- and short-term effects of the oil spill have been studied comprehensively.^[18] Thousands of animals died immediately; the best estimates include 100,000 to as many as 250,000 seabirds, at least 2,800 sea otters, approximately 12 river otters, 300 harbor seals, 247 bald eagles, and 22 orcas, as well as the destruction of billions of salmon and herring eggs.^[5]^[19] The effects of the spill continued to be felt for many years afterwards. Overall reductions in population have been seen in various ocean animals, including stunted growth in pink salmon populations.^[20] Sea otters and ducks also showed higher death rates in following years, partially because they ingested prey from contaminated soil and from ingestion of oil residues on hair due to grooming.^[21]
Almost 20 years after the spill, a team of scientists at the University of North Carolina found that the effects are lasting far longer than expected.^[20] The team estimates some shoreline Arctic habitats may take up to 30 years to recover.^[5] Exxon Mobil denies any concerns over this, stating that they anticipated a remaining fraction that they assert will not cause any long-term ecological impacts, according to the conclusions of 350 peer-reviewed studies.^[21] However, a study from scientists from the NOAA concluded that this contamination can produce chronic low-level exposure, discourage subsistence where the contamination is heavy, and decrease the "wilderness character" of the area.^[16]

The issue of recovery is still contentious. Clean-up efforts officially ended in 1992, but one recent study has shown an estimated 20,000 gallons of oil remaining on the beaches of Prince William Sound.
According to Anne, one can even smell it in some areas. "The oil tends to hide itself especially on these beaches where, you know, we have these huge cobbled rocks.
"It'll go into this and come up to the top. And then the storms will uncover it. And then a hot day comes along, and puff, there it is again.
"It's still there."

And this is a small fraction of the spill in the Gulf.

BP, Halliburton, And Transocean Skip Mississippi Hearings On The Oil Disaster

Late last month, Mississippi state House Speaker Billy McCoy (D) and Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant (R) created a select committee to investigate the Gulf Coast oil spill. “[T]he people of Mississippi deserve to know how this happened and what the future may hold for this most valuable part of our state,” said McCoy. A key part of the select committees’ mission would be to hold hearings with top officials from companies responsible for the spill.
However, yesterday, BP wrote a letter saying it wouldn’t be showing up for the three-day hearings this week. ThinkProgress obtained the letter to McCoy, addressed from Margaret D. Laney, BP’s Mississippi Coordinator for Public and Government Affairs. From the letter:

I regret that we are unable to accommodate your invitation to participate Wednesday or Thursday in the hearing of the Mississippi House of Representatives Select Committee on the Gulf Coast Disaster.
We at BP take very seriously the desire of the Select Committee to gather information on the circumstances on the Mississippi coast relative to the oil spill. We are committed to meeting regularly with stakeholders along the Gulf Coast and to providing briefings for government officials on a regular basis, and we will continue to remain engaged in this way. When we meet with the Committee, it will be important for us to have appropriate BP representatives who are implementing the strategic response plan for Mississippi and working in the Mississippi Gulf Coast area. Unfortunately, the appropriate individuals are not available this week. We would be pleased to work with the Select Committee to identify a day in the near future for another meeting of the Committee — either in Jackson or on the Coast where the Committee also can visit incident response operations.

A BP spokesperson told the AP that the “many of the company’s executives” would be in Washington, DC. According to the Biloxi Sun Herald, both Transocean and Halliburton were also no shows.
McCoy was suspicious of the corporations’ refusal to testify, stating, “Considering the many officials BP has on standby in the Gulf Coast region, it is simply incomprehensible that the company could not send at least one to these hearings to give our citizens, lawmakers and business leaders their viewpoint on this oil spill disaster. We are not holding these hearings to conduct a witch hunt.” “Every one of BP’s public pronouncements has been as produced and careful as the Tiger Woods’ apology,” Rep. Brandon Jones (D) added. “What we want is for them to answer the hard questions and give us a sense of what is going on. By not showing up, it just leaves all that to our imagination and it breeds frustration.”
The last hearings BP, Halliburton, and Transocean officials attended didn’t go so well because they were all trying to pass blame for the spill and received widespread condemnation. The Washington Post noted that at last month’s Capitol Hill hearings, senior executives were “pointed fingers” at each other the whole time.

BP's announcement that they're taking responsibility for the response to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, not for the accident, sounds more like they're patting themselves on the back. BP CEO Tony Hayward said Monday they are dealing with the cleanup and compensation to those affected, and while they have been dealing with it, their initial efforts also highlight that they're ultimately looking out for themselves. The company offered settlements to coastal residents of no more than $5,000 if they give up their right to sue. This extends to out-of-work fisherman they've hired to help with the clean up. BP has since removed the language from the contract, once they were criticized for the move. They also initially attempted to downplay the seriousness of the the spill, saying the rig was leaking 1,000 barrels a day when in fact it was leaking five times as much.

NORML supports the removal of all penalties for the private possession and responsible use of marijuana by adults, including cultivation for personal use, and casual nonprofit transfers of small amounts. This policy, known as decriminalization, removes the consumer -- the marijuana smoker -- from the criminal justice system, while maintaining criminal penalties against those who sell or traffic large quantities of the drug.
In 1972, President Richard Nixon's National Commission on Marijuana and Drug Abuse recommended that Congress adopt this policy nationally in the United States. Since then, more than a dozen government-appointed commissions in both the U.S. and abroad have recommended similar actions. None of these commissions have endorsed continuing to arrest and jail minor marijuana offenders. Summaries of these studies are available here.
Since 1973, 13 state legislatures -- Alaska, California, Colorado, Maine, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Ohio and Oregon -- have enacted versions of marijuana decriminalization. In November 2008, Massachusetts voters passed a statewide initiative making the possession of up to one ounce of marijuana an infraction punishable by no more than a $100 fine. The law took effect on January 2, 2009. In each of these states, marijuana users no longer face jail time (nor in most cases, arrest or criminal records) for the possession or use of small amounts of marijuana. According to national polls, voters overwhelmingly support these policies. In Oregon, voters recently reaffirmed their state's decriminalization law by a 2-1 margin in a statewide referendum.
More than 30 percent of the U.S. population lives under some form of marijuana decriminalization, and according to government and academic studies, these laws have not contributed to an increase in marijuana consumption nor negatively impacted adolescent attitudes toward drug use. Summaries of these findings are available here.
Enforcing marijuana prohibition costs taxpayers an estimated $10 billion annually and results in the arrest of more than 829,000 individuals per year -- far more than the total number of arrestees for all violent crimes combined, including murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault. This policy is a tremendous waste of national and state criminal justice resources that should be focused on combating serious and violent crime. In addition, it invites government unnecessarily into areas of our private lives, and needlessly damages the lives and careers of hundreds of thousands of otherwise law-abiding citizens. NORML believes now, as former President Jimmy Carter told Congress in 1977, that: "Penalties against drug use should not be more damaging to an individual than the use of the drug itself. Nowhere is this more clear than in the laws against the possession of marijuana in private for personal use."
Responsible Use
Marijuana is the third most popular recreational drug in America (behind only alcohol and tobacco), and has been used by nearly 100 million Americans. According to government surveys, some 25 million Americans have smoked marijuana in the past year, and more than 14 million do so regularly despite harsh laws against its use. Our public policies should reflect this reality, not deny it.
Marijuana is far less dangerous than alcohol or tobacco. Around 50,000 people die each year from alcohol poisoning. Similarly, more than 400,000 deaths each year are attributed to tobacco smoking. By comparison, marijuana is nontoxic and cannot cause death by overdose. According to the prestigious European medical journal, The Lancet, "The smoking of cannabis, even long-term, is not harmful to health. ... It would be reasonable to judge cannabis as less of a threat ... than alcohol or tobacco."
As with alcohol consumption, marijuana smoking can never be an excuse for misconduct or other improper behavior. For example, driving or operating heavy equipment while impaired from marijuana should be prohibited.
Most importantly, marijuana smoking is for adults only, and is inappropriate for children. There are many activities in our society that are permissible for adults, but forbidden for children, such as motorcycle riding, skydiving, signing contracts, getting married, drinking alcohol or smoking tobacco. However, we do not condone arresting adults who responsibly engage in these activities in order to dissuade our children from doing so. Legalization
NORML supports the eventual development of a legally controlled market for marijuana, where consumers could buy marijuana for personal use from a safe legal source. This policy, generally known as legalization, exists on various levels in a handful of European countries like The Netherlands and Switzerland, both of which enjoy lower rates of adolescent marijuana use than the U.S. Such a system would reduce many of the problems presently associated with the prohibition of marijuana, including the crime, corruption and violence associated with a "black market."

The first federal statutes imposing the legal obligation to pay a federal income tax were adopted by congress in 1861 and 1862 to pay for the Civil War. The 1862 law levied a 3% tax on incomes above $800, rising to 5% for incomes above $10000. Rates were raised in 1864. This income tax was repealed in 1872, but a new tax ststute was enacted as part of the Wilson/Gorman Tariff Act of 1894.
In fact, the taxed levied seemed terribly socialist in nature as at that time, the average income was anywhere from $80 a year to $100 a year. It was just past what was one of the most hardest depressions to hit America, a time when some called the 1890s the GAY 90s, but, only the rich.
The working class were considered slaves, swept aside by those with money if they got in the way.

The apportionment requirement made income taxes on property practically impossible, and congress did not want to limit the income tax solely on wages. Therefore, in 1909 congress proposed the 16th Amendment, which became part of the constitution in 1913 when it was ratified by the required number of states. The Amendment modified the requirement for apportionment of direct taxes by exempting all income taxes (whether considered direct or indirect) from the apportionment requirement.
Congress re-adopted the income tax that same year, levying a 1% tax on net personal incomes above $3000, with a surtax on incomes above $500000. By 1918, the top rate of the income tax was increased to 77% on incomes over $1 MILLION , basically to finance World War One.
The average American income in 1910 was around $750 per year.
The top tax rate was reduced to 58% in 1922, 25% in 1925, and finally 24% in 1929. In 1932 the top marginal rate was increased to 63% during the Great Depression and steadily increased, reaching 94% on income OVER $200000 in 1945.
Top marginal rates stayed near or above 90% until 1964, under Johnson, it was lowered to 70%, and again in 1982 under Reagan to 50% and in 1988 to 28%. However, in 1990 under Read my Lips-No New Taxes Bush senior, the top rate was raised to 31% and again in 1993 (Clinton) to 39%. bush junior lowered the top rate to 35% prior to the attacks that eventually led the USA into a war with Iraq, although no real cause is yet to be found in going to war, except to enrich that president's pockets (and that of his family and generations to come)...but that is a political discourse that does not concern us with this topic.
Now, Aunties e-mail points to numerous other taxes, some of which are ludicrous to be sure, but most of which are local taxes. Her intent to draw in the entire country to a battle with her state is nothing less than misdirection. Local taxes may be unfair, but, they must be battled on a local basis.

She would have us believe that ALL taxes are unfair, and without regard to their purpose or intent, she lays them out as nothing less than theft. In doing the research for this article, I have discovered several points in which I have been wrong about. Hated that NASA had free reign to shoot crap up into the sky for what seemed to be a lot of money. I, too, thought that the actual physical cost of the government was enormous and unwieldy.
Some are theft, I'll give her that, but, strangely, the ones that are theft are the ones that lobbyists have PAID legislators for, but then she (or her mystery e-mailer) denies the culpability of the lobbyists. Just because the senate and congress is wrong in taking the money doesn't let the ones who PAY them the money off the hook.
Could it be that she is a lobbyist?
"Everyone else is a sinner but me?"

Of those pointed out are taxes on vehicles and licenses for drivers...yet no regard for who pays for roads. Unemployment taxes are a bitter pill, to be sure, but then had the companies that employed workers and then laid off or out right fired them for little or no reason (other than retain their obscene profit margins) it wouldn't be so needed, would it?
Truly, if their income is created from the direct work of others, whether by crook or sheer weaseling, shouldn't that tax be levied and given back to the workers who were cast aside? After all, there is still the filthy lucre gained from the sweat and toil of the working class, there is still the advantages of income without work by the upper class who wield law to eliminate tax burden on themselves while continuing a high society attitude themselves, there are still the extremely comfortable housing, the elaborate cars and SUVs, and visits to exotic lands...say like Italy (just like Pelosi, although they seem quick to point out her trips as sinful and laid upon the backs of workers...)

Other taxes pointed out are like the DNR taxes, usually more state driven than federally mandated, but the long war with those who would rape our lands is well documented.
Taxes on natural resources are placed as much to restrict mass removal of wildlife and land and growth from the clutches of more despicable characters as anything else. Taxes pay for the DNR and without the DNR there are those who would drop fifty foot nets in our lakes streams and rivers stripping them of all fish and life, rendering them stagnant pools of water. Some have found ways to do just that as it is, and have created those very pools. Strip mining, land clearing, animal removal, to no other end than to enrich themselves, and once the lands are stripped of anything other than bare, dredged dirt, they leave.
Consider Palin's goal of eliminating wolves from the Alaskan plains. Is that for good? Or is she merely deciding that God didn't do things proper and she'll fix it all right? Her attitude was to bully the legislature and the law to let her deal with it as she pleased without ant scientific proof or declaration from the population. (Perhaps she is the illegitimate daughter of Harry J. Anslinger? That was his method.)

Telephone taxes are a different story altogether. They are an example of a good idea taken to the extreme and then beyond. The taxes were first placed to get telephone lines everywhere there were people. Rural ares in particular had no way to afford running lines to their outposts...farmers were left with no communication at all. Then taxes were levied to get those lines out there. To establish basic services to those who feed us. Thing is, the rates went up, the taxes paid back down to the phone companies stayed up, the maintenance WAS a thing that had to be dealt with, however a popular stunt pulled by companies and government alike is to keep their budgets inflated...never give way to using less. That only drew attention to the lessor need and that in itself may bring less budget money in.
USING UP THE BUDGET...geez. What a crock of poop.

Now, there is a movement in our country to point out the government's own fat intake.
Things like junkets around the world by both Republicans AND Democrats always draw attention because not everyone can afford such a thing.
I personally get a vacation about every seven years or so. To see Pelosi or McCain jaunt off to Hawaii or Italy or anywhere sometimes really gets my feathers up.
But, let's look at something here...

See that near Fifty Billion Dollars for the Justice Department? 9-12 Billion dollars is to keep marijuana illegal. That's what we got from the knee-jerk reaction designed and caused by Harry J. Anslinger.

Health and Human Resources is right up there with a huge amount, and guess what? Since the original Health Care Package first got watered down by both sides of the aisle then dropped altogether by the Republican lock step mentality, those costs are going to rise. You see, the idea was to LOWER health costs, not to be a nanny state as so many lobbyists advertised. By reducing costs to Americans, we could actually afford our health care...but, not one week after the complete collapse of the package, what do companies like Well Point do?

They raise their rate three time.

What will happen now?

Well, duh. More people will have to drop their coverage, whether or not they work, and then when emergencies arise, what happens? The government will cover those costs.

Again, this is slightly off topic, as i have called out a Young Lady from the South as misdirecting us from the truth...in essence, lying to make her point.

But what point is it?

What is it that she is trying to do?

A clue can be found in her statement, which may or may not have come in the e-mail she cited.

"Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago and our nation was the most prosperous nation in the world. We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids."

Well, as seen, the bit about the taxes was a blatant lie. So also is the "no national debt" statement, as in 1910 our national debt was $1.15 BILLION. In a nation of some 92 million people, 2 million were unemployed, the average salary was around $750 per year (even though the Ziegfeld Girls made around $75 per week)...the national debt was about to rise quickly over the course of a few years (World War One and Two)....
Women didn't vote.

There were 76 known lynchings in the USA, mostly blacks or homosexuals. (has she bought rope stocks?)
Divorces were 1/1000 now a days it's closer to 50%, at least the last time I looked.
So...things aren't as 'hunky dorie' as we're being led to believe. In 1910 we were climbing out of one depression, and walking into a situation of isolationism that would cast the world into a great war and another world depression.

So, what else is occurring?
Modernism is occurring, that's what. When mankind is beginning to realize that the bible isn't the word of God...that most was written by well meaning people with too much creative energy. And the Holy Roman Catholic Church was going to war with those individuals in the worse of ways.

The president IS a bum! He actually thought that Republicans would work towards rebuilding the USA, but they have proven him wrong. He actually thought that the Democrats would drop their animosity and reach across the aisle with him. He actually thought that giving stimulus money to Americans who had jobs would count towards an economic recovery better than bush junior's $150 dollar payment at tax time. He actually thought that the Christian way of doing things was the better choice than mindless war that profited only those who waged it (the bush family and the cheney family) but he was wrong.
Of course he's a bum.
He hasn't murdered 4200 of this nation's children, hasn't given F-16s to an unstable Islamic nation, hasn't closed his doors or windows from our seeing what he's up to....
has left communication lines open to anyone who wants to express themselves.....

Absolutely amazing poll results from CNN today about the $787 billion stimulus package: nearly three out of four Americans think the money has been wasted. On second thought, they may be right: it's been wasted on them. Indeed, the largest single item in the package--$288 billion--is tax relief for 95% of the American public. This money is that magical $60 to $80 per month you've been finding in your paycheck since last spring. Not a life changing amount, but helpful in paying the bills.
The next highest amount was $275 billion in grants and loans to states. This is why your child's teacher wasn't laid off...and why the fire station has remained open, and why you're not paying even higher state and local taxes to close the local budget hole.
It turns out that what people are really upset about is all that wasteful money that has gone to political public works projects...except that the overwhelming portion of that money hasn't been spent yet. Remember all those "shovel-ready" projects? Well, they didn't exist. The big jobs-creating projects like the rebuilt "smart" electric grid, major highways and fast trains will come on line during the next year. (Although these projects might have gotten greater public support if they'd been chosen by a National Infrastructure Bank--a panel of experts, like the fed--that would have picked them according to their value added, rather than by the bozo appropriators in the Congress.)
So, two thoughts:
1. The Obama Administration has done a terrible job explaining the stimulus package to the American people...especially since there have been very few documented cases of waste so far.
2. This is yet further evidence that Americans are flagrantly ill-informed...and, for those watching Fox News, misinformed.
It is very difficult to have a democracy without citizens. It is impossible to be a citizen if you don't make an effort to understand the most basic activities of your government. It is very difficult to thrive in an increasingly competitive world if you're a nation of dodos.

US police 'kill Seattle shooting suspect'

A reward of $125,000 has been posted for the arrest of Mr Clemmons

Police in the US state of Washington say they have shot dead the man suspected of killing four police officers at the weekend.

Maurice Clemmons, 37, was killed in Seattle early on Tuesday, a spokesman for the Pierce County Sheriff was quoted as saying by AP news agency.

He had been on the run since the officers were killed as they sat in a cafe near the city.

Police had been conducting door-to-door searches using sniffer dogs.

A reward of $125,000 (£76,000) had been posted for information leading to Mr Clemmons' arrest.

Police have said they do not know why he shot the officers in Lakewood, south of Seattle on Sunday.

The case sparked anger across the US after it emerged that Mr Clemmons had been released from prison despite a history of violent crime.

His 95-year sentence in Arkansas was commuted in 2000 by then governor Mike Huckabee.

Mr Clemmons quickly reverted to crime. He was back in prison in 2004 but released again later that year.
